演講大綱：
Late-life depression (LLD) is a heterogeneous disorder involving abnormalities in affective, cognitive, and physiological functions. Yet, LLD is frequently underidentified in older adults because depressive symptoms can be masked by prominent physical complaints or misattributed to normal ageing. This challenge highlights the need for objective and accessible approaches that can characterize the multidimensional dysfunction underlying LLD. Eye tracking is uniquely positioned to address this need because a single, non-invasive recording can simultaneously capture saccade, pupil, and blink responses, providing measures of autonomic arousal, emotional processing, and cognitive control. Using this approach, we identified alterations in autonomic and oculomotor regulation, with attenuated pupil light reflex responses and increased eye-blink rates, and these measures showed distinct relationships with depressive, somatic, and cognitive symptoms. Extending beyond basic autonomic function, an emotional face–word Stroop task revealed that LLD patients showed diminished task-evoked pupil modulation during emotional conflict processing and selective alterations in microsaccade responses to emotional valence. We further used an interleaved pro- and anti-saccade paradigm to probe executive control over automatic visuomotor responses. LLD made more anti-saccade direction errors despite largely preserved saccade kinematics, suggesting a selective impairment of inhibitory control rather than generalized oculomotor dysfunction. Together, these findings suggest that eye tracking can move beyond the search for a single biomarker, providing complementary physiological and behavioral readouts of autonomic arousal, cognitive–affective processing, and executive control in late-life depression.

汪勁安副教授於國立陽明大學神經科學研究所取得博士學位，畢業後赴加拿大女皇大學從事博士後研究，並曾任雙和醫院醫學研究員及國立中央大學認知神經科學研究所助理教授，目前任教於臺北醫學大學醫學教育暨人文學科。研究專長及興趣領域為認知神經科學、眼球運動、瞳孔反應、知覺與注意力，以及閱讀歷程，研究關注的焦點在運用眼動與瞳孔測量理解人類心智與大腦的認知神經機制。
