演講大綱：

     In this talk I shall present a sample of how research happened in projects I have personally been involved. At the start of my academic career, research was in solving open problems posed in graduate-level courses; towards the end, it was in assisting friends and colleagues who needed some methodological advice; and in between, it was in attempting to survive in the “publish or perish” academia.

    To openly discuss how or why a piece of research work has been conducted amounts to gossiping, which is rarely done, in good taste, among active researchers. The privilege to tell stories–and to settle scores–belongs to those who have been put out to grass. 

講者簡介：

許教授於美國紐約大學完成其實驗心理博士學位，曾任職於國立成功大學認知科學及教育研究所，現為國立成功大學的名譽教授。

研究專長領域包括心理物理學、心理統計、和計量方法。
