Abstract This talk provides an overview of the rapid progress, learning paradigms, and fundamental advantages of Large Language Models (LLMs). It discusses advanced reasoning techniques such as Chain-of-Thought (CoT) and Reasoning LLMs for improving logical inference, as well as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and the proposed Cache-Augmented Generation (CAG) as solutions to limitations in knowledge access, recency, and generation latency. Furthermore, the presentation explores the current research landscape, focusing on model efficiency, strategies for mitigating LLM biases, safety alignment, and the development of next-generation multimodal systems. Speaker Biography Dr. Huang received her Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Taiwan University. She previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at National Chengchi University and is currently an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica. Her research integrates artificial intelligence and language technologies, with a focus on computational modeling of metaphor comprehension and the interaction between linguistic understanding and human knowledge representation. She has pioneered new directions in Chinese discourse analysis. Dr. Huang’s research has been widely published in top-tier journals and international conferences in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and information retrieval. She has also served multiple times as co-chair and program committee member for international conferences such as SIGIR and ROCLING, contributing significantly to the advancement of interdisciplinary research in language and AI. Tien, PhD Postdoctoral Fellow, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Canada Abstract｜ This talk examines how sex and gender shape autism diagnosis through quantitative and qualitative studies. Findings reveal potential male-oriented biases in diagnostic tools and show how gendered expectations and clinician bias contribute to delayed or missed diagnoses, underscoring the importance of gender-informed diagnostic practices.

Abstract Trained as a psychologist, I conduct psychophysical and neurophysiological experiments to investigate human minds. In this talk, I will present a series of studies examining how we express and perceive emotions through body movements. The findings of these studies serve as the foundation for industrial designs that facilitate interpersonal communication between real and cyber spaces. The goals of my presentation are to highlight the significant role psychologists play in interdisciplinary research teams and to encourage psychology students to embrace unconventional opportunities whenever they arise. Speaker Biography Dr. Miao Cheng received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Hong Kong. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Research Institute of Electrical Communication and the Interdisciplinary ICT Research Center for Cyber and Real Spaces at Tohoku University, Japan. Her research focuses on nonverbal communication, with particular interest in how social cues (e.g., emotion, friendliness, interpersonal impressions) are conveyed through body movements and eye behaviors. Her long-term research goals are to integrate cognitive science, neuroscience, human–computer interaction, and computational modeling to investigate how variations in nonverbal behavior influence both digital and face-to-face communication. Abstract In recent years, many parents have reported heightened anxiety about their parenting—striving for perfection in their practices and worrying that their children may not reach their full potential. Unsurprisingly, many also report feeling exhausted by the demands of parenting and, in some cases, even expressing regret about becoming parents. The detrimental effects of parental anxiety extend beyond diminished parental well-being; they also pose risks to children’s optimal development. Given these wide-ranging consequences, it is crucial to identify strategies that can alleviate parental anxiety. In this talk, I will present findings from my recent studies and those of others that offer insights into how this goal might be achieved. Specifically, I will discuss potential coping and regulatory processes that may buffer the harmful effects of parental anxiety, as well as the sociocultural roots that fuel it. I will highlight how contemporary parental anxiety arises not only from individual psychological factors but also from broader societal pressures. Together, these studies reveal key antecedents contributing to the emergence of parental anxiety and point toward promising avenues for its prevention. Speaker Bio Dr. Lin received his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at KU Leuven in Belgium. After completing his doctorate, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at National Tsing Hua University and at the Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences at Academia Sinica. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the College of Education, National Chengchi University. His research interests include family communication, parenting culture, culture and emotion, emotional competence, emotion regulation, emotional labor, perfectionism, social support, latent variable modeling, and network analysis. Speaker Biography Dr. Chang received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Manchester, UK. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the College of Computing, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), and a Visiting Scholar at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge, UK. Her research expertise lies in computational modeling and psycholinguistics, combining computational modeling, behavioral experiments, neuroimaging, and corpus analysis to investigate the relationship between language processing and learning, and memory. In recent years, she has focused on the application of brain-inspired computing and Artificial Intelligence in digital health and precision medicine, such as developing voice-based biomarkers for the early detection of mental health issues and dementia. Abstract Our main interest is to use animal models to study the neural basis of psychiatric disorders, aging, and neurodegenerative diseases. As a behavioral neuroscience lab, we first observe behavioral phenotypes. If any behavioral changes are found, we further investigate the underlying mechanisms and genetic associations using various techniques. This talk will introduce our current research projects, including: Investigating the roles of anti-aging proteins in the process of sleep deprivation, Examining the effects of antibiotics on brain functions, and Studying the effects of medicinal mushrooms on cognition. Speaker Biography Dr. Yen received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Psychology from National Taiwan University, where she specialized in biological psychology. She was awarded a government scholarship for overseas study by the Ministry of Education and obtained her Ph.D. in Biology from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Before joining NCCU, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Duke-NUS Medical School and the Department of Physiology, National University of Singapore. Her research expertise lies in behavioral neuroscience. Her previous work focused on using mouse models to explore the neural mechanisms underlying psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders and to seek potential therapeutic strategies. Her current research centers on understanding the roles of sleep disturbances in aging and cognitive decline, as well as the impact of gut microbiota imbalance on anxiety-related behaviors. Abstract This talk presents research findings on the bereavement experiences of caregivers of cancer patients, focusing on how bereaved individuals in Taiwan reconstruct relationships with the deceased and their families within a specific cultural context. Findings suggest that Western grief theories cannot fully explain the unique features of bereavement in Taiwan, motivating scholars to propose interpretive frameworks more aligned with local sociocultural realities. The lecture introduces three key concepts: “Bei Dao” (悲悼) – a concept integrating personal grief and collective mourning, emphasizing their interaction and wholeness; Transformation of “Ethical Bonds” – describing how bereaved family members reconstruct familial ethical dynamics and transform their relationships; “Interdependence of Life and Death” – highlighting how the deceased continue to influence the living through their “presence in absence,” maintaining ongoing connections. The talk further explores anticipatory grief and personal growth among caregivers of cancer patients, examining how attachment patterns and relationship closeness shape these processes. Findings indicate that “ethical bonds” may serve as a protective factor that aids bereaved individuals in adapting to loss and promoting post-traumatic growth. The speaker will emphasize the importance of considering cultural influences in addressing bereavement and the need for culturally grounded psychological support and counseling. Speaker Biography Dr. Wan-Lin Lee received her Ph.D. from the Department of Psychology, National Chengchi University. After graduation, she served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Psychology, National Taiwan University, and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Fu Jen Catholic University. Her research interests include bereavement and grief, end-of-life psychological care, psycho-oncology, and phenomenological and existential approaches.
