講題:Neuropsychopharmacology of impulsive action: regional differences of dopamine receptors involved in timing impulsivity

演講大綱

While behavioral action with impulsive features may be energetic or creative for adaptive function in human and other mammals, dysregulated impulsive behavior with adverse consequence is now known to be associated with a variety of disorders in neuropsychiatry including ADHD, substance abuse, and pathological gambling. Although impulsivity is generally known as the tendency to respond prematurely without foresight, there is a substantial body of evidence showing that impulsivity is a multifaceted trait. Different forms of impulsive behavior are suggested to be linked to distinct cortico-striatal substrates. Pre-clinical study using animal behavioral models of impulsive action will be briefly introduced; of particular interest, a timing impulsivity characterized by a differential reinforcement of low-rate responding (DRL) behavior in rats will be presented with a serious of experiments showing a regional-dependent and dopamine (DA) receptor subtype specific effect across three regions tested in the mesocorticolimbic DA circuits on the deleterious effect of stimulant drug in the DRL task. The direction of future study to decipher the neurobehavioral mechanisms underlying the impulsive action and its neuropsychiatric implications will be discussed.

 

講者簡介

廖瑞銘博士1989年畢業於美國密西西比大學心理系,隨即任教國立政治大學迄今,現為本校心理學系教授與神經科學研究所合聘教授。在校內曾任心智、大腦與學習研究中心主任與神經科學研究所所長,校外的學術服務曾任科技部人文司心理學門召集人,2008年迄今為Chinese Journal of Physiology (a SCI journal) 編輯委員,曾於20112012期間任該期刊副主編輯。目前的研究主題是行為神經科學、行為藥理學、情緒與動機研究,希望能夠結合心理學與神經科學探討人類認知行為的機制,及相關精神用藥的反應,例如:從神經藥理學觀點探討心理興奮劑藥物反應之系列研究,已發表多篇國際期刊論文。
